Clearwell Caves!!

Our recent visit to Clearwell Caves was an exciting underground experience.  Alex persuaded us to go and visit it after he is been there with a school trip.   Clearwell Caves at Forest of Dean is an ancient iron mine, which is still mined today, for Ochre, that is used for paint pigments.   It is a mysterious and atmospheric place truly a journey back in time and we know that it was used for filming episodes of Dr Who and Merlin (which Alex watch fondly).

I am sure a day out to visit and explore the old mines and caves can be an exciting adventure to everyone.

Cornish …holidays

This summer we weren’t able to visit Greece because we didn’t have enough money but we planned to visit the picturesque location in Fowey, Cornwall…which me and Peter visited previously we think its really amazing beautiful and hospitable place and we couldn’t wait to return. Also, we wanted to introduce Alex to our very special spot with a special meaning to us where Peter (my husband) proposed me

(at Pont Mill Creek).
Of course I missed Greece and the warmth but we’ve had such a lovely time and fun in spite of the fact that the weather hasn’t been that great. Fowey is a major centre for sailing in Cornwal. It is a small town with lots of charming craft shops, cafes pubs and beautiful cottages.
From our holiday flat in Fowey, we were able to take in pretty landscapes and breathtaking views of the Fowey countryside. We had lovely walks around the river and Estuary even in the pouring rain!

The harbour was really busy and lively because of the Reggata week and lots of events took place during the week of 14th- 20th. Music, carnival, dancing……We saw many yachts and fishing boats, fireworks but the highlight was the Red Arrows show. Alex was very excited to watch the spectacular show!!. At Fowey Aquarium we saw lobsters, crabs, cod, etc and we did crabbing!! We have visited beautiful beaches had BBQ and took ferry excursions across Polruan River to Bodinnick and Mevagissey.
We tasted the Cornish Pasties, Cream Teas (Yum!), great seafood Cornish sardines, crabs and mussels, as well as the wonderful Ice Cream and the locally brewed beers!!

We LOVE magical Cornwall! It is a delightful place whether you are Greek or English and it has something for everybody to see, do and enjoy!
