Miserden Lake!!

Miserden Estate Lake

An Autumn day out…..

Yesterday we went out to catch the autumn colours, it was a sunny but cold day. We went to Miserden Park, and we were mesmerized by what we saw and found.  A peaceful lake  hidden in the  stunning wooded valley , the blend of  the amazing colours all around bright gold, reds , yellows , brown, the trees and the countryside so impressive and inspiring. The uphill climbing was intensive and a challenge but the views were fabulous.  We had a whitebait lunch and a bowl of soup in the village pub in Miserden.

So if you are in the mood get out and see the dazzling autumn colours if you haven’t done so yet!!

Hingham Court Gardens!

One more visit to an English Country Garden…..Hingham Court Gardens… on the day of an Open Gardens event. We spent the day there with friends and our children.   It was a rainy day, yet we enjoyed every minute of it.

Highnam Court was built in 1648 and the magnificent gardens designed by the Victorian artist Thomas Gambier Parry and recently restored by the current owner Roger Head. It’s a gorgeous landscape garden 40 acres with a beautiful lake, wooden sculptures , ponds full of lily pads, bridges and a grotto as well as a beautiful arched wisteria walk.

We also went to see Highnam Church near the Estate and we were impressed by the frescos and the stained glass windows.
