Upton blues festival is a very popular festival, and probably one of the biggest free blues festivals around in UK.  Set in the beautiful Worcestershire riverside town of Upton upon Severn.  The festival celebrated its 13th anniversary – featured the Best of British Blues plus some from US and Netherlands too.

Bands and musicians played at pubs, bars and other venues throughout the town and down on the waterfront.  The event attracted many people and the town had such a great vibe, 100 gigs over the three days (18/7-20/7, 2014)!  Some of the bands which performed  included : Groovy Head, TroubleShooters, Doctors Order,The Real Raj, The SpikeDrivers, Henry’s Funeral Shoe.

The Hamsters…top band!!!

I went and saw the Hamsters a rock blues band and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Needless to say they’re also widely regarded as the UK’s leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top.

Joe Bonamassa’s gig…..

On 31 May 2010 me and Peter went to see Joe Bonamassa at NIA (National Indoor Arena) Birmingham.

I’ve been looking forward to see him on a live concert and i was pleased with his performance one thing for sure  didn’t let me down.   Joe’s rock/blues sound was awesome and the gig was great! He played lots of songs and he was swapping quitars on every song.  My husband know a little bit more about quitars as he is a quitar player and….. he was impressed too with the selection of quitars.  Enjoy these pics as much I did enjoy the concert.

It was quite an experience  the  night of  rocking blues !

Eric Bibb concert

On 30/4/10 I’ve seen  Eric Bibb performing live at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.  What a great bluesman and a great concert!!  His performance was so inspirational and powerful.  I love his style, his music, and with his rich and sensitive voice he draws me into the moment more as a participant than as a listener.

He played up songs from his latest new album, Booker’s Guitar blues folk and bluesy gospel acoustic music like Flood Water, Sunrise blues, Wayfaring Stranger, Booker’s Guitar, New Home, Nobody faults but mine  etc. His album inspired by the discovery of a 1930s steel-body guitar that had belonged to Delta blues legend Booker White, an older cousin to B.B. King Bibb recorded the title track in England using White’s guitar.

He is really worthwhile checking him out and for me it was a great night of uplifting music!

Beautiful, moving voice…

The legendary Argentine folk singer and activist  Mercedes Sosa  (also known as “La Negra” ) whose voice has brought  tears to many people passed away at age 74. An amazing voice, wonderful songs, and an important symbol of resistance against the Argentinean dictatorship. Here is a tribute to this brave, inspirational woman. Listen to her most famous song  “Gracias a la Vida”and reflect some of that power, warmth and beauty.
